Central Elgin worker Shane Macpherson had a cheery task today, installing the Christmas decorations that promise to light up the streets this weekend in Port Stanley. The Port Stanley Lions and Lioness Clubs’ Dickens Days Night Parade, on Friday, November 26, 2021, at 7 p.m., will provide a colorful introduction to the weekend-long Outdoor Christmas Market. The village Business Improvement Area is offering a festive lineup of events and activities, featuring carolers, a town crier, horse-drawn carriage rides, and open fires to keep warm and roast marshmallows. The Lions also turn on the Christmas lights at Lions Landing on the 26th. The parade route starts behind Foodland on Frances Street, proceeding west along Stanley Street to Colborne Street, then south to Bridge Street and across the King George VI Lift Bridge to William Street. It then heads south to the parking lot at GT’s on the Beach. (Regrettably this year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, Mackie’s will not be open for hot chocolate.)
