The Port Stanley Lions Club – supported by the Port Stanley Lioness Lions Club – raised $10,000 for the Hospice of Elgin on Saturday, June 25, 2022, as 500 people enjoyed a Lobsterfest meal provided by Steelhead Food Co., of St. Thomas, during a successful fundraiser held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 410. Steelhead generated an additional $370 hospice donation, selling oysters between two sittings for the lobster meals. Meg McTaggart, keyboardist and vocalist with The Smokin’ Bass Band, also announced a $1,000 hospice donation in behalf of The Believe Army, a foundation created by Meg’s late brother, Steve Barber, in support of people with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). The Smokin’ Bass Band provided a rousing performance throughout Lobsterfest.
