It turns out that, besides being a captivating storyteller, Craig Cole is also good with a camera. He took this shot of a Trumpeter Swan feeding today with a flock of about 70 Canada Geese at the mouth of Little Creek in Port Stanley. The swan is wearing a yellow wing tag marked V53, indicating it was tagged by the Ontario Trumpeter Swan Restoration Group. Estimates indicate there are about 16,000 Trumpeter Swans in North America, including about 1,600 in Canada. Trumpeter Swans have a wingspan of 84-to-96 inches, weigh 21-to-30 pounds, with a neck length of about 60 inches.
